Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy, useful in the treatment of spider veins (telangiectasias) and varicose veins.  Your spider veins and varicose veins can be eliminated through this simple office procedure.   Sclerotherapy is a procedure in which a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein through a very fine needle The sclerosing solution will cause the vein to blanch, then gradually disappear.  Treatments last for 15 to 20 minutes and consist of multiple injections.  Injection sclerotherapy can eliminate the need for an invasive surgical procedure.

It needs to be kept in mind that sclerotherapy can not prevent new veins from appearing as these conditions are hereditary.  However this procedure can be repeated if new veins do occur.  Patients generally return to normal activities immediately and vigorous activity in 24 hours.
